A Dinner Habit That No One Questioned

Every Friday evening, Ravi looked forward to dinner with his family.

It was more than just a meal—it was their weekly ritual. They would order everyone's favorite dishes, share stories from the week, tease each other, and laugh over dessert. It was the one time everyone forgot about work, school, and deadlines.

But over the past few months, something had quietly changed.

No one noticed it at first—not even Ravi.

As soon as the food arrived, he would instinctively reach for his knife and begin cutting everything into tiny pieces. Crispy dosas, grilled vegetables, sandwiches, even soft pieces of paneer—everything had to be made smaller before it reached his mouth.

One evening, his daughter giggled and asked, "Dad, why do you always cut your food like you're feeding a baby?"

Everyone laughed.

Ravi laughed too.

"I've just gotten used to eating this way," he replied.

But that wasn't the real reason.

The truth was hidden behind every careful bite.
